Rocket Shop Live at ArtsRiot with Shay Gestal & Xenia Dunford
Rocket Shop Live at ArtsRiot is a monthly concert series made possible with support from ArtsRiot, Big Heavy World, and RETN. The concerts are presented live on one Wednesday each month at ArtsRiot and broadcast live through Big Heavy World's website and online at theradiator.com. This month features two singer-songwriters, Shay Gestal and Xenia Dunford. 'Rocket Shop' is Big Heavy World's local music radio hour, every Wednesday night at 8 pm on 105.9FM The Radiator. Rocket Shop has hosted hundreds of Vermont musician guests in its many years on-air. This event is made possible with support from the BCA Community Fund and is a Vermont Arts 2017 performance. Catch up with podcasts of prior episodes in iTunes or at bigheavyworld.com/rocketshop!
About the Performers:
Shay Gestal is a violinist and singer-songwriter from Craftsbury, Vermont. She first picked up the violin at age five and has trained and performed classically ever since. Guitar in hand, Shay launched her solo singer-songwriter career in 2014. A prolific songwriter, she weaves stories about crabapples and canoes, grace and silver linings, cherry wine and sunshine. She finished her three-part, year-long 'Burlington to Boulder' tour in December 2015. She is currently organizing the production of her own upcoming album while continuing to sing and play throughout the northeast.
Xenia Dunford is a musical nomad and unabashedly honest lyricist, Xenia's music is made of the stuff of life. Her songs are inspired by the human condition and heavily steeped in her own experience. She is a trained vocalist, self-taught multi-instrumentalist, mildly amusing amateur author, and an impetuous ingenue desperately seeking love and affection with a penchant for alliterative banter... all without seeming too desperate.
