Gin Ferrara talks with filmmaker Maia Vota about filmmaking and Maia's experience documenting the Burlington High School girls soccer team’s advocacy efforts for equal pay for the National Women’s Soccer League.


Maia Vota is an 18 year old filmmaker who lives in Burlington, Vermont. She is currently finishing high school and hopes to study film production in college. Maia started making films at the age of 13 and has created numerous documentary and narrative shorts. In 2019, Maia was one of three student winners of the AT&T Film Awards. Most recently, her video about the Burlington High School soccer team’s #EqualPay movement was featured in CNN, Sports Illustrated, and other national and local media outlets.
