Community Media Day celebrates local, independent media

Community Media Day is an annual event that celebrates and brings awareness to the importance of free speech and accessible media for the millions of community mediamakers and citizen journalists who tell their unique stories every year. Community Media Day is officially October 20, and often aligns with Free Speech Week.

The Media Factory offers more than 10 workshops every month - many are free or have a suggested donation.

Celebrate with us online, on TV, and in town!

We're beginning our Community Media Day celebration early with the VT International Film Festival, Oct. 16-27. The Media Factory is proud to sponsor the Made Here Showcase, a juried selection of films made from Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Northern New York State, and Québec. The Media Factory also sponsors the Made Here’s "Audience Favorite" award.

And right here at the Media Factory, director Liz Canner will share a sneak peek of her VR production, “The Lost City of Mer” as part of the workshop VR for Social Impact with The Lost City of Mer on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3pm. Read more and register now for this limited seating event!
